Research on geographical industries and edge crafts associations in northeast Brazil and north Portugal

This paper presents partial results of a survey on the profile of Geographical Indication Lace Embroidery Associations in northeastern Brazil and Portugal. Geographical Indications value and protect traditional products linked to a particular locality, while making positive contributions to the local economy. Handicraft production associations in Brazil, which have obtained the geographical indication seal, add many artisans who derive their families' livelihoods almost exclusively by selling the products. In Portugal the process is different and the certification is individual for the artisan and the pieces. This study aimed to characterize the profile of the members of the Renda Irlandesa, Renda Renascença e Bordado Filpe associations in northeastern Brazil with Geographical Indication seal and the lace of Tibaldinho, Bilro and Lenço dos Namorados in Portugal. The work started with bibliographic research that preceded the field research and Doctoral Sandwich in Portugal. In the bibliographic research were used articles, theses, dissertations available in the online bases of CAPES periods. The Sandwich Doctorate was conducted between November 2018 and March 2019 and the field research in Brazil was conducted from May to June 2019, and data were collected through a semi-structured questionnaire.

President of the Academic Intellectual Property Association since 2015. Editor-in-Chief of Geintec - Management, Innovation and Technologies Magazine. Works in the field of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, Production Engineering and Applied Statistics, with applications in the themes: Statistical Quality Control., Time Series, Forecasting, Technological Prospecting and Technology Transfer. 

3. Norberto Santos, Universidade de Coimbra, Brazil

   Norberto Nuno Pinto dos Santos. Completed Aggregation - in 2008. He is Associate Professor with Aggregation and Associate Professor with Aggregation at the University of Coimbra. He has published 48 articles in specialized magazines and 25 papers on event minutes, has 38 book chapters and 10 published books. It has 155 technical production items. He participated in 21 events abroad and 119 in Portugal. Supervised 8 PhD theses and co-orientation 1, supervised 46 Master's dissertations in the areas of Economic and Social Geography, Other Social Sciences and History and Archeology. Between 1987 and 2013 participated in 9 research projects, and coordinated 1 of these. Currently coordinates 1 research project. She works in the areas of Social Sciences with emphasis on Economic and Social Geography, Social Sciences with emphasis on Sociology, Social Sciences with emphasis on Other Social Sciences and Social Sciences with emphasis on Economics and Management. In them, their health business interacted with 53 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific works. In its curriculum, Tourism, Development, Heritage, Integration, Local Development, Coimbra, Gastronomy, Leisure, City and Geography.
